Patricia Schmidt

Patricia A. Schmidt, 74, of Atlantic, passed away Thursday, May 29, at Cass County Memorial Hospital.

The daughter of Charles Edward and Margaret Ann (Been) Dutton, she was born July 15, 1939, in Boone, Iowa. She graduated from Atlantic High School in 1957. Patricia was united in marriage to Charles Robert Moore in 1959 and they resided and farmed south of Adair until 1969, when they moved back to Atlantic. She attended nursing school, receiving her nursing degree from Iowa Western in Atlantic, in 1977. After graduation she worked at the Atlantic Care Center and then Cass County Memorial Hospital for eight years. Charles passed away in 1978. A few years later, Patricia married Wendell Lee Schmidt in 1982. They owned and operated a convenience store from 1984-1989 in Lake Pomdeterre, MO. Upon their return to Atlantic she worked at Heritage House from 1990-2006, when she retired.

Her greatest delights were her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed vacationing, especially on the motorcycle, watching birds, and making denim quilts.

Patricia is survived by her husband, Wendell; her children, Clifton C. Moore of Adair, IA, Michaelle (Rex) Peterson and Lynn (Rick) Richter, both of Casey, IA; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; her brother, Charles E. (Kaye) Dutton, II of Valley, NE; a sister-in-law, Judy Dutton of Fremont, NE; and nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Margaret Dutton; her first husband, Charles Robert Moore; a brother, Gary L. Dutton; and a daughter-in-law, Christine L. Moore.

A Celebration of Life will is planned for Tuesday, June 3, eleven a.m. at the Roland Funeral Home. An urn burial will take place at a later date at the Atlantic Cemetery.

As per Patricia's request, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory.
