David Alan "Dave" Schlotzhauer
David "Dave" Alan Schlotzhauer, 35, a resident of rural Atlantic, Iowa, passed away early Saturday morning at his home following an extended illness.Dave was born in Atlantic, January 25, 1967, to Donald and Sandra (Dory) Schlotzhauer and was a graduate of the Atlantic High School class of 1985. He was working for the Nebraska Highway Patrol in Lincoln and planning to enroll in the Nebraska Highway Patrol School when he was diagnosed with cancer. He was a member of the National Clock and Watch Association. Dave loved spending time with his son, Cody. His friends and family were very important to him. He liked old pocket watches, old clocks and old cars.He is survived by his son, Cody, age 4, of Hastings, Nebraska; his parents, Don and Sandy Schlotzhauer of Atlantic; his brother, Kevin Schlotzhauer of Atlantic; his twin sister, Diana Sievers and husband, Allan, of Walnut, Iowa; two nephews, Kevin Alan and Kyle Schlotzhauer of Atlantic and three nieces, Valerie, Lauren and Tori Sievers of Walnut, to whom he was known as "Favorite Uncle Dave"; his fiancee, Michelle Richardson, of Atlantic; aunts, uncles, cousins and his three best friends, Doug Towne, Robert Ulveling and John Ulveling.He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Clark and Valera Dory; paternal grandparents, Art and Pearl Schlotzhauer; his uncle Robert Schrier and his cousins, Mike Hardy and Curt Manke.Funeral InformationFuneral services for Dave will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2002 at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa at 1:30 P.M. with Pastor Guy Fisher of the First Assembly of God Church in Atlantic officiating. A graveside service will be held at the Atlantic Cemetery.
