Marjorie Anne Scherdin
Marjorie Anne (Quick) Scherdin, a long time resident of Atlantic, Iowa, and wife of the late Raymond E. Scherdin, passed away Friday morning, September 16, 2011 at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center at the age of 88 years. The daughter of Floyd Kemper and Ruth Agnes (Norton) Quick, Marjorie was born on January 21, 1923 at the family home in Griswold, Iowa.Marjorie graduated from Atlantic High School in May of 1940 and married Raymond Ellsworth Scherdin the following year.She was employed at Clairmar Fabrics for several years as a drape maker and recorder.Marjorie was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic and was active in the circle club and Democratic polling.Marjorie's hobbies were sewing, crocheting and baking.She enjoyed vacationing at the Roeski's Place in Litchfield, Minnesota.Her family will always remember her for her strong will. Marjorie is survived by two daughters, Barbara L. Vanderburg of Atlantic, IAand Margorie A. Darnsted of Glendale, AZ; two sons, Gary R. Scherdin of Cartersville, GA and Fredrick B. Scherdin of Atlantic; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; a daughter, Sandra K. Scherdin; a sister, Mrs. Earl (Garnett) Sanny; a brother Dale Quick; and two grandchildren. An open visitation will be held daily, Tuesday to Thursday, from 8:00 - 5:00 at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic with the family meeting with friends Thursday evening, September 22, from 5:00 to 7:00.Services for Marjorie will be held Friday, September 23, at 1:30 pm at the First United Presbyterian Church with Pastor Holly Smith officiating.There will be a fellowship reception following the committal service at the First United Presbyterian Church.The celebration will continue at the local Eagles Club thereafter. The Roland Funeral Home is caring for Marjorie's family and her arrangements.
