Marjorie M. Sams
MARJORIE M. (BAIER) SAMS Mrs. Marjorie M. Sams, a resident of Atlantic, Iowa for the last 45 years, died at the Atlantic Nursing & Rehab Center on Saturday, September 12, 2009, at the age of 94. The daughter of Edward and Lizzy J. (White) McLaughlin, Marjorie was born March 15, 1915 at Anita, Iowa and graduated from the Anita High School in 1934. She was married to Frederick "Sam" Baier in 1939. They farmed 25 years south of Wiota. He was killed in a truck/car accident in 1964. Marjorie moved to Atlantic in 1964 and became a nurse's aide for 18 years at Heritage House and the Cass County Memorial Hospital. She married Paul L. Sams in 1969. Marjorie was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic. Survivors include one son, Dr. Jon W. Baier and wife Karen of Arvada, Colorado; a daughter, Mrs. Sally Ayers of Marion, Iowa; two step-sons, Wade Y. Sams and wife Janet of Stuart, Iowa and John D. Sams and wife Susan of Tampa Bay, Florida; a step-daughter, Paula MacArthur and husband Paul; eleven grandchildren, Mike and Mark Baier, Tamara, Tiffany and Heath Ayers, Dawn and Quint Sams, Tanya and Aaron Jones, Amy and Bonnie Sams; 24 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Marjorie was preceded in death by both husbands; her parents; a sister, Mrs. Goldie Griffith; a brother Phil McLaughlin; sons-in-law, James Roland and Russell Ayers; great grandson, Maddox Ayers.Funeral InformationIN REMEMBRANCE OFMarjorie M.
