Alan J. Salapa
Alan John Salapa, 50, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa.The son of Albert John and Deborah (Knoch) Salapa, Alan was born inPittsburg, Pennsylvania, October 26, 1956. He was raised in San Fernando, California and graduated from Chasworth High School. He received his diploma in Natural Resources at Pearce College and took acting classes at the University of Utah. Later he had parts in commercials and a small movie. On August 12, 2000 Alan was united in marriage to Rusia N. Perez Tenorio in Hollywood, California. He delighted in being father to his adopted son, Brian. Most recently Alan worked for Glacier Daido America as a chemist. He was also into natural resources, a radio announcer, and served as an air space engineer.Alan attended the SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a non judgmental person, forgiving, very much a joyful giver, and a devoted lover of his cats, especially his beloved cat, Harriet.He is survived by his wife, Rusia N. Salapa of Atlantic, IA, his son, Brian A. Salapa of Atlantic, IA and a step-son, Hamilton Franco and his wife, Ledan of El Salvador; 3 step grandchildren, De-Alesandro Franco, Christian Franco and Brenda Franco; his father and mother, Albert and Deborath Salapa of Conoga Park, CA; his brother, John Salapa and wife, Claudia of Resda, CA; and his mother-in-law, Irma Tenorio of Bell Flower, CA; a sister-in-law, Sonia Mandez of El Salvador; two brothers-in-law, Roberto Perez of El Salvador, and Luis Tenorio and wife Roxanne of North Carolina; nieces and nephews, Nuria Misares and husband, Levio of Norwalk, CA, Marcel and Angela Salapa of Resdea, CA, Thara Tenorio and Jacob Tenorio of North Carolina, David Figueroa and Manuelito Mendez of El Salvador; Corina Misares, and Tatina Misares of Norwalk, CA; and his cat, Tiger.Alan was preceded in death by his sister, Teresa Salapa; father-in-law, Raphael Alberto Perez; 2 brothers-in-law, Adrian Figueroa and Manuel Mendez; 3 uncles, David Knoch, James Knoch and John Salapa; an aunt, Alice Jablonski; and his cat Harriet.A prayer service for Alan Salapa will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, February 25, at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, IA. Father Dan Siepker of the SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church will be officiating. There will be a luncheon at the funeral home following the service.
