Obituary for Eleanor Saemisch

ELEANOR ELIZABETH SAEMISCH Eleanor Elizabeth Saemisch, a longtime resident of Cass County, passed away early August 29, 2008, at the age of 93, at the Heritage House in Atlantic, Iowa. Eleanor was born to Harvey and Mamie (Meyer) Heath on January 11, 1915 south of Cumberland, Iowa where she was raised. Eleanor attended the Cumberland High School and graduated from the normal training school in Griswold. On May 29, 1937, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Saemisch. They lived in Stanton, Iowa until 1942 when they moved to Shelby, Iowa. Lawrence was killed May 16, 1952 in a farming accident. In 1953 Eleanor moved with her children to Atlantic. Eleanor worked at Blue Star Foods and then at J.C. Penney before teaching at Grove #5 school just south of Atlantic, Iowa. Before her retirement, she worked at Claremar Fabrics in Atlantic. She moved to Heritage House in July of 1999. She was known as the "lady with her hat on&" waiting to go to church. Eleanor is survived by a son, Richard Saemisch and wife, Juda, of Perry, Iowa and their family, son, Larry Saemisch and wife, Ellie and their children Gabe, Eli and Isabel, daughter, Lisa McLaren and husband, Sean and their children, Mason, Caleb and Katie; one daughter, Karen McFadden and husband, Duane, of Marne, Iowa and their family, Tom McFadden and wife Greta and their children, Austin, Archer and Aiden, daughter, Michelle Cook and husband David and their children, Tanner Cooley, Charles and Eleanor and son James McFadden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; brother and sister-in-law, Maurice and Florence Heath; sisters and brothers-in-law, Isabel and Orville Eshelman and Helen and Dr. G. E. Brandt; great-granddaughter, Faith McLaren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Fern and Joe Shaw and Ethel and Harlan Selby; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wilbur and Mildred Saemisch and brother-in-law, Floyd Saemisch.Funeral InformationThere will be open visitation with the family present on Sunday evening, August 31, from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. A funeral services for Eleanor will be held on Monday, September 1, 2008 at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa, at 10:30 A.M. with Dennis Oathoudt of Atlantic and Pastor Charles Compton from the Perry Bible Church officiating.
