Dorothea Ruth
Dorothea Ruth, 91, longtime resident of Atlantic, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, April 2, 2003 at the Stuart Community Care Center.Dorothea was born in rural Adair, June 24, 1911, the daughter of Henry and Matilda (Marten) Kimm. Dorothea was married to Roy Ruth who managed a gas station and tank wagon service in Atlantic. They farmed in rural Guthrie County and moved to Atlantic in 1962. Dorthea is known for her smile and kindness. Her hobby was reading, she enjoyed flowers, and loved her dogs and cats. We'll remember Dorothea as she worked at Dimig"s Drug Store and later at Van"s Chat & Chew.She is survived by nieces and nephews, Maxine Cunningham and husband, Don, of Des Moines, Martha Gittins and husband, Bernard, of Stuart, Donald Marean and wife, Pauline, of West Des Moines, Robert Marean and wife, Irene, of Des Moines, Irene Foshe and husband, Dennis, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Marjorie Kessler and husband, Galen, of Pleasant Hill, Joyce Shaffer and husband, Danny, of Des Moines, Marvin Marean and wife, Joyce, of Guthrie Center, Richard Marean and wife, Brenda, a Granville, Michigan, Evelyn McDonald of California, Max Marean and wife, Jane, of Peru, Iowa, Shirley Flahive and husband, Richard, of Georgia, Karol Kimm and wife, Kathleen, of Numa, Iowa, Elizabeth Schultz and husband, Michael, of Atlantic, David Kimm and wife, Charlene, of Atlantic, Anna Wilson and husband, Rob, of Harlan, Dorothy Oliphant and husband, John, of Atlantic, Carol Walter and husband, Whitson, of California and Linda Kimm, and among several in-laws, Ellen Campbell of Guthrie Center.She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, her parents; sisters, Clarena, Eva and Grace Marean; and Kimm brothers, Silas, Clarence, William and Lawrence (in Infancy).Roland Funeral Service Atlantic, IowaFuneral InformationServices for Dorothea were held Wednesday, April 5, 2003, at 11:00 A.M. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic, Iowa with Rev. Allen Hellwege officiating. Interment will be at 1:30 P.M. at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery eight miles northeast of Exira, Iowa.
