HELEN ROTH
Helen Roth, a long time resident of Atlantic, passed away Wednesday evening, July 11, 2012, at the age of 90 years at the Heritage House in Atlantic.
Laveta Helen Roth was born north of Marne, Iowa, on July 1, 1922, to Fred and Frieda Knop Scheef. Helen attended schools in Shelby and Guthrie Counties and graduated from the Atlantic High School. Helen was united in marriage to Rollie Hoffman, Lawrence Kuhl and Charles (Chuck) Roth, all of whom are deceased.
Helen's family was her life. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She worked for Rex Pharmacy for a number of years and she was a bookkeeper for J.C.Penneys for many years. After her retirement, she enjoyed working part time at Tanner's Fashions. Helen was a long time member of the Atlantic BPO Does and the Cass County Memorial Hospital auxiliary. She recently celebrated her 90th birthday at Lana and Brookes' home attended by her immediate family. She also enjoyed a card shower from her many friends. Helen was noted for being an immaculate housekeeper and for her chocolate chip cookies and apple pie. She was a classic dresser with a beautiful head of hair.
She is survived by her children, Sandy (Rusty) Smith of Warsaw, MO, Lance Sortedahl of Omaha, NE, Lana (Brooke) Tanner of Atlantic, IA, and a stepson, Stuart (Karen) Roth of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Kevin (Stacey) Dorsey of Centennial, CO, Julie (Dave) Wood of Ozark, MO, Jody (Jon) Wersinger of Springfield, MO, Chris Sortedahl and Clint (Lisa) Sortedahl of Ft. Dodge, IA, and Todd (Michelle) Tanner of Atlantic, IA; siblings, Glee Wildman of Atlantic, IA and Gail (Doris) Scheef of Versailles, KY; thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her three husbands; a grandson, Scott Tanner, a brother-in-law, Larry Wildman, and a step-daughter, Pam Roth Wright.
