Obituary for Paul C. Rorabaugh

Paul Collier Rorabaugh, age 90, passed away Monday morning, October 27, 2003, at the Heritage House in Atlantic, Iowa. Paul was born May 26, 1913, to Sophronius Perry and Osta Matilda (Collier) Rorabaugh in Bellaire, Kansas. After graduating from Smith Center High School, he continued farming with his family. On June 1, 1937, Paul was united in marriage to Dorothy Rosetta Sims in Smith Center and to this union three children were born. In 1944 the family moved to Iowa where Paul continued farming in the Walnut, Oakland, Stanton and Corning areas until 1963 when due to ill health, Paul purchased a radiator shop in Corning and they built a home there. He later worked a few years for the county before retiring and traveling with Dorothy who operated a travel agency. In 1997 Paul and Dorothy moved to Lincoln and were there until returning to Iowa in 2000. Paul enjoyed playing cards, fishing and baseball. He enjoyed teasing his grandchildren and great grandchildren and was always a loving father and a fun grandpa. At the Heritage House he enjoyed it when the great grandchildren played Bingo with him. Paul was a member of the Methodist Church in Corning, Iowa. He is survived by his wife Dorothy; one daughter Sharol and husband Jerry Andersen of Atlantic; two sons Curt and wife Melissa of Colorado Springs, CO and Richard and wife Geralyn of Lincoln, NE; one granddaughter Jennifer and husband Doug Cappel of Des Moines, IA; three grandsons David and wife Lynn of Ames, IA; Scott and wife Missy of Loveland, OH, and Marc and wife Melissa of Blaine, MN; ten great grandchildren Jamie, Lauren and Erin Norwood, Zach, Jonathan, Rachel, Andrew and Austin Andersen and Madeline and Alex Cappel; one sister Mabel Taylor of Montrose, CO; one sister-in-law Doris Sims of Smith Center, KS and many nieces, nephews and friends.
