Roger Sieck

Roger W. Sieck, 79, of Walnut, Iowa, went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, March 30, 2024, at his home.

Roger William was born on May 28, 1944, in Atlantic, Iowa, the son of Willie Otto and Lorene Agnes (Abel) Sieck.  He attended Marne Elementary and graduated from Atlantic High School in the Class of 1962.  After moving to Las Vegas, he received training in information technology at Community College of Southern Nevada where he also worked for 20 years.  While working there he enjoyed the relationships he built with the students and colleagues.  In retirement he returned to Iowa and made Walnut home.

Roger was an image taking, motorcycle riding, roller skating, genealogy researching kind of guy! He was known for being light on his feet and would effortlessly glide across the dance floor while two-stepping.  Always looking forward to Sieck Family reunions in July, he would record these gatherings and transfer them to DVDs for others. Roger loved his family and his friends and made sure to always reach out on birthdays and any accomplishments.  He was dedicated to serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; the first time you met him you would likely hear the greatest story ever told.  A favorite verse among many highlighted and hand written notes in his Bible was Romans 10:9: That if you shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Roger a gentle giant of a man, father and friend and will be greatly missed by his children, Micheal Sieck, Chuck (Virginia) Sieck and Kimberly (Fernando) Montoya, all of Las Vegas, Nevada and Esther Brown of Sioux City, Iowa; grandchildren, Nicole, Brandi, Blake, Parker, Jackson, Landrey, Bennett, Madison, Abigale, Kirsten and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Kendra, Lincoln and Kaylani; siblings, Robert Sieck of Walnut, Iowa, Stuart Sieck of Atlantic, Iowa and Julia Forgey of Missouri; and a host of extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Lorene Sieck; grandson, Brenden; daughter-in-law, Brenda Sieck; brother-in-law Tom Lawrence and nephew, Bradley Lawrence.

A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held at a 11:30 a.m., Sunday, April 28th in the Community Room at the Walnut Community Center.  A time of lunch and fellowship will immediately follow the service.

Roland Funeral Service is caring for Roger’s family and his arrangements. Condolences may be left at www.rolandfuneralservice.com.
