Alfred Rimby

Alfred William Rimby, 86, of Atlantic, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2001, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.The son of Maurice and Emma Mae (Turk) Rimby, Alfred was born March 16, 1915 in Atlantic where he grew up in graduated from Atlantic High School. He attended one year of schooling following graduation. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Alfred was employed by Iowa Electric Light and Power Company in Atlantic, retiring April 1, 1979. He attended the United Church of Christ in Atlantic.Surviving are one sister, Aleva Gustin of Atlantic; cousins, Kenny Turk and his wife, Betty, of Anita, Owen Turk and his wife, Sandy of Exira, and Rosella Reeves of Omaha; and several young people who called him "Al&".He was preceded in death by his parents.Funeral InformationGraveside services for Alfred will be held Monday, August 27, 2001, at 10:30 A.M. at the Atlantic Cemetery Field of Glory in Atlantic, Iowa with the Atlantic Veterans Color Guard presenting honors. Reverend Rodger McKinney of Wiota, Iowa will officiate.
