Wayne Rich
WAYNE L. RICH Wayne Rich, 85, passed away at Heritage House in Atlantic on Monday, April 6, 2009. Wayne Lloyd Rich was born the son of Homer and Matilda "Tillie" (Arp) Rich, west of Massena, Iowa on February 11, 1924. He grew up attending school in the Massena area where he graduated with the Massena High School Class of 1942. He and Myrtle Nelson were married on February 19, 1945 in Hiawatha, Kansas. The couple was blessed with five children while they farmed south of Anita, Iowa, for 40 years, and for their last 24 years they lived in Atlantic where Wayne continued to live at Heritage House after Myrtle's passing. He was a member of United Methodist Church; Atlantic Kiwanis Club; loved playing cards and dominos and always looked forward to visits with family and friends ~ the most important thing in his life. Surviving Wayne is his son, Gary Rich and his wife, Karen of Massena, IA; his four daughters, Sherry Johnson and her husband, Gary of Glenwood, IA, Carol Fletcher and her husband, Don of Liberty, MO, Janie Ward and her husband, Rich of Plano, TX, and Julie Carnes and her husband, Jim of Kansas City, MO; his grandchildren, Jana (Terry) Manning, Wade Rich, Darin (Michele) Fletcher, Jennifer (Brian) Heithoff, Brant (Therese) Johnson, Amy (Glenn) Taylor, Kelly (Brian) Ehrenberg, Josh (Larena) Ward, Ryan (Traci) Rich, Andrea Rich, Mary Carnes, Sarah Carnes and Rachel Carnes; his great-grandchildren, Mollie, Madison, Ethan, Collin, Tate, Jack, Tillie, Colby, Harrison, Connor, Meredith, Taghan, Wesley, Andrew, Tayah, Aubree, Emma and Ruthie. Also surviving are his sister, Bernice Symonds and her husband, Carl of Massena, Iowa. Preceding Wayne in death were his wife, Myrtle and his parents, Homer and Tillie. Wayne will be greatly missed.Funeral InformationThere will be open visitation at Roland Funeral Home from 8:00 to 5:00 daily until Wayne's family will be present to meet with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 on Friday evening, April 10. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 11, 2009, at the United Methodist Church in Atlantic, Iowa, with the Reverend Gary DeGeest officiating.
