Angela Retz

Angela Beth Retz, 33, of Des Moines, formerly of Atlantic, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2001, in Iowa City as a result of a stroke.The daughter of Francis William (Bill) and Linda Lou (Evans) Retz, she was born March 4, 1968, in Atlantic, Iowa where she was reared and graduated from high school in 1986. Four years later Angie graduated from Simpson College in 1990 and was employed with Ramsey Motor Company in Des Moines. For the past seven years she was an accountant in the Treasury Department of Equitable Iowa Insurance Company which is now called ING. Angie loved to golf, travel and dearly loved her niece and nephews. She was a member of the SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church.Angie was an organ donor. Her family feels she will live on and give the opportunity to others to live happy, longer lives.She is survived by her parents, Bill and Linda Retz of Atlantic; two brothers, Tim Retz and his wife, Lisa, of Des Moines and Curt Retz of Minneapolis, Minnesota; her sister, Amy Gubser and her husband, Nick, of Elkhorn, Nebraska; two nephews; Spencer and Grant Gubser; a niece, Lexi Retz; her very special friend, Eric Sloane, of Des Moines; aunts and uncles, Jack and Marcella Platt of Massena, Iowa, Jack and Barb Retz of Anita, Richard and Betty Retz of Glenwood; a great aunt, Francis Sudby, of Menlo Park, California; a number of cousins; and many friends.Angie was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Marjorie Lafferty; her paternal grandparents, Emil and Tena Retz; and her maternal great-grandparents, Lou and Pluma Heath.Funeral InformationA funeral mass was held Saturday, August 18, 2001, at 10:30AM at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Msgr. Lawrence Beeson officiating. Interment was in the Atlantic Catholic Cemetery, Atlantic, Iowa.
