Obituary for Barbara Maxine Retallic

Maxine Retallic, 82, a resident of Atlantic, Iowa, died Saturday, October 26, 2002, at the Heritage House in Atlantic.Maxine was born in Griswold on July 28, 1920 to Barbara Lischer and R. N. "Nate&" Watson. She graduated from Atlantic High School in 1938. On August 25, 1940, she married LeRoy B. Retallic at her home in Atlantic and they lived on the family farm south of Atlantic. Following their retirement in 1984, LeRoy and Maxine moved to Atlantic. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as office assistant for Production Credit Association. For the past five years, Maxine has resided at Heritage House. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic and had been active in the Mary Circle. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women, had been a 4-H leader and in her youth had been a Rainbow Girl.Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Reams and her husband, Lowell, of Plymouth, Michigan and Marcella Henderson and her husband, Howard, of West Des Moines; one son Dale Retallic and his wife, Vickie, of Atlantic; eight grandchildren, Shelli Pintore, Sherri Ray and her husband, Rick, both of Canton, Michigan, Michael Henderson and his wife, Beth, of Ames, Tara Essmann and her husband, Mike, and Angela Henderson, both of West Des Moines and Whitney Retallic of Boston, Massachusetts and Justin and Troy Retallic of Atlantic; and six great-grandchildren, Paige and Carli Henderson, James and Jenna Bryans, Tyler and Trenton Ray.She is preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy, and a sister, Mildred Watson (Hemsted) Weir.Funeral InformationFuneral services for Maxine will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2002, at the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic at 1:30 P.M. with Rev. Tompsie Smith officiating.
