Beulah R. Reed
Beulah Rose (Pedersen) Reed, 91, of Atlantic, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic. Beulah was born May 23, 1915, at the Washington Township farm home of her parents Peder C. Pedersen and Rosa Camelia (Paulsen) Pedersen. She was a graduate of Lewis High School and worked in Atlantic prior to her marriage to Ben Evans Reed of Cumberland on February 18, 1942, in Omaha, Nebraska. A son, Dennis L. Reed, was born in Atlantic, December 12, 1946.The couple resided in Cumberland, Iowa, where Ben was associated with the Marchant/Reed Insurance Company and was affiliated with the Cumberland Savings Bank. Beulah was very active in the Cumberland Methodist Church and a number of clubs in the community. For many years she worked as a volunteer in the coffee shop of the Cass County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and a member of Eastern Star and Garden Club. A gentle, soft-spoken person, Beulah was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was skilled in sewing, gardening, and cooking.Beulah spent her last three years at Allen House where she enjoyed Bingo, crafts, and spelling bees. She is survived by her son, Dennis Reed of Des Moines; her sister Christine Miller of Atlantic; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Ben Reed; five brothers, Hans, William, Elmer, Emmert and Albert Pedersen; as well as three sisters, Agnes Trede, Elsie Pedersen, and, Lillian Headlee.Visitation is scheduled for Friday February 2, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. Funeral Services will be held at the Cumberland Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m., Saturday Ferbruary 3. Rev. Dick Krambeck will be officiating.
