Obituary for Byron Joseph Redler

BYRON JOSEPH REDLER Byron Redler, 61, resident of Atlantic, IA., began his journey with God in Heaven on Sunday January 25, 2009. After a battle with cancer, he remained full of strength and faith throughout. Byron was born on January 16, 1948 in Atlantic, IA. He was the youngest of five children born to Albert Lee and Pauline Emma (Bender) Redler. He was baptized and received his first Holy Communion at Saint Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, where he attended continuing his faith. Byron was raised and attended school in the areas of Elliot, Griswold and Atlantic. Byron was united into marriage to Linda Mae Thomas on September 23, 1967, residing in Marne where they were blessed with three wonderful children: Mike, Alan, and Angie. Byron was known as being a hard worker. His working career included being in business with his brother Leroy for awhile; on to working as a pellet mill operator at Walnut Grove for 10 years; and on to venturing into his own business of putting up steel buildings and grain bins; and then on to working for Henningsen's Construction for many years. Byron was a member of the volunteer Marne Fire Department and the Marne City Council. He was also an active member of the Marne Community Club. Byron's interests included hunting in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, fishing, and just being outdoors. He had a fond admiration for John Wayne "The Duke", and he enjoyed numerous country westerns. Byron was well known for his sharp card playing skills, and being a fun-loving prankster. Byron is survived by his daughter Angela Redler and fiancé James Blake of Marne; his sons, Mike Redler of Marne, Alan Redler and wife Cindy of Walnut; his four grandchildren, Whitney Jane Redler, Koby Alan Redler, Sydney Jo Redler, and Jacob Thomas Redler; his two sisters, Carolyn and husband Tom Kinsella of Omaha, NE., and Marilyn Freund of Atlantic,IA.; his brother Duane Redler and wife Mary of Bellevue, NE.; a sister-in-law Joan Redler of Aurora, CO.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Byron was welcomed into Heaven by his parents Albert and Pauline; his brother Leroy Redler; his brother-in-law Jack Freund; his nephew Mark Redler; and a special Uncle Joe Redler.Funeral InformationOn Tuesday January 27th at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic there will be a Rosary Service at 6pm; followed by family visitation for friends from 6:30pm to 8pm; and then a Scriptural Wake at 8pm. presided by Father Dan Siepker. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Wednesday January 28th at Saint Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic, followed by a luncheon at the church for his family and friends.
