Obituary for
Terry Ray
Brent Terry Ray, 74, of Sioux City, and formerly of Atlantic, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.
Brent “Terry” was born on April 17, 1941, in Anita, Iowa, the son of Dell and Adair (Walker) Ray. He attended Anita High School and college at Northwest Missouri State, in Marysville, Missouri.
Terry was married to Sharon Lorene King at the Christian Church in Atlantic on February 2, 1964. Following two years in Maryville, Missouri, Terry served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. The couple were blessed with a family of five children.
Terry enjoyed riding horses, boating, vacationing in Texas during the winters, and spending the summers in Okoboji with his friend Marilyn Welding. He loved doing pretty much anything outdoors.
Terry is survived by his daughter, Holly Anderson and her husband, Randy Anderson of Grand Island, NE, son, Matthew Ray and his wife, Malinda of Denver, CO, son, Christian Ray and his fiancé, Amber McClain of Denver, CO, daughter, Lori Sabala and her husband, Dan of Lincoln, NE and daughter, Shari Ray and her wife, Stormy Griffith of Dallas, TX; six grandchildren, Briana and Brandon Closser of Lincoln, NE, Jarred, Megan and Riley Anderson of Grand Island, NE, Evan Ray of Denver, CO, and Angelic Ray of Lincoln, NE; and his friend, Marilyn Welding.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dell and Adair Ray, his wife, Sharon in 2006, and brother Larry Ray in 2015.
Per Terry's wishes a private family burial will be held in the Atlantic Cemetery. Military honors will be given by the Atlantic Color Guard.
