Mary Pross

Mary Jane (Janie) Pross, 83, longtime resident of Atlantic, Iowa, died Friday, December 16, 2005. She was born December 23, 1921 in Atlantic, the daughter of Harry and Florence (Ayers) Paulson. Janie learned the values of honesty and hard work while growing up in Bucktown. She attended both Grant and Jackson schools here in Atlantic and was married to Frank A. Pross on March 20, 1940.Janie"s life was based around her family. She was a loving mother of five children and a caring grandmother who always put everyone ahead of herself. Her house was always open to welcome friends and family in times of joy or times of need. She glady offered a smile and a laugh or a shoulder to cry on. Janie loved country music and having coffee with her friends. She worked at Publisher"s News for 20 years and was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church.She is survived by four of her children, Frank Pross (Joanne), Dick Pross (Sharon), Judy Anderson (Darrell) all of Atlantic and Mike Pross (Cheri) of Columbia Falls, Montana; as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Janie was preceded in death by her husband Frank; parents Harry and Florence; three brothers, Stanley, Jerry and Harold; five sisters, Norma Madsen, Barbara Wall, Harried Olsen, Shirley Miller and Marie Christensen; a son Dennis and two grandsons, Jason Pross and Tom Worth.Funeral InformationIN MEMORY OFMary Jane ProssBorn December 23, 1921Atlantic, IowaENTERED INTO RESTFriday, December 16, 200583 years, 11 months, 23 daysFUNERAL SERVICETuesday, 10:00 A.M.
