Timothy Post, 53, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, formerly of Cumberland, died Friday, July 23, 2021, at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs.
Timothy Glenn was born on October 11, 1967, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Franklin Glenn and Beverly Joan (Nellis) Post. The family lived in northern Missouri and Peru and Cumberland, Iowa while he was growing up. As a kid he looked forward to riding his dirt bike and working alongside his dad fixing cars.
His sister, Tammie recalls some of her favorite memories with Tim while living on the farm being feeding the animals, having snowball fights, and digging tunnels as long as city blocks so they could get to the bus. And let’s not forget the infamous race to outrun a Blue Racer, a very fast and poisonous snake. She also reveals how appreciative Tim was that she spent countless hours tutoring him and helping him read. Tammie would without a doubt say he got his stubbornness from his dad.
Friends, Ted and Angie Johnson, and their sons, Cody and Cole recall having many fond memories of Tim in the time they shared together. They looked forward to Halloween when he would stop over and carve Pumpkins with them, always having the patience to carve some of the most difficult designs. The roasted pumpkins seeds were always enjoyed as long as they would have enough to roast after throwing them at each other. The artistic talent won him 1st place in the Headless Horseman Pumpkin Carving Contest one year. He was always up for anything whether it be playing a game with Cody or helping Angie on some of her home decorating and remodeling ideas, he always agreed. They will be forever grateful for their friendship, what a blessing he was to have in their lives and will cherish all the memories, he was like Family!
Tim loved to make things out of wood and put together models of any kind and finishing them, painting even the tiniest of details with ease! There wasn’t anything that he couldn’t make or do when he put his mind to it!! The last couple of years Tim’s passion was buying, selling and repairing bicycles. He also enjoyed mowing lawns and gardening, sharing his crop with others. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and was always willing to help anyone in need; even if he didn’t have much himself or meant he went without.
Tim will be deeply missed by all that knew him!
Tim is survived by his sister, Tammie Jo Post and her husband, Robert “Wild Wolf” Leavitt of Spokane, Washington and many extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Beverly Post.
Family and friends will host a Celebration of Life graveside service at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 14, 2021, at the Peru Cemetery in East Peru, Iowa.
Roland Funeral Service is caring for Tim’s family and his arrangements. Condolences may be left at www.rolandfuneralservice.com.
Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)
But those who wait on the LORD
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
*******
No Fear of Flying
Someday I will soar
Where only eagles dare to fly
My wings will span great distances
In a clear blue azure sky
So high above this wordly place
That Heaven’s doors I’ll see
And angel voices will start to carry me through
Skies ringing with sweet melody
For God has promised this day
If His name we will revere
And I hold this promise in my heart as I mount up
With wings that shall have no fear
