Mary Pont

Mary Linnea Pont was born in Council Bluffs, IA on November 24, 1912 to Ada Odessa (Worth) Walter and Lewis Arthur Walter. She graduated from Lewis High School in 1929 and was married to Claude William Pont in Lewis, IA on October 4, 1930. To this union were born Claudia Pont Rollins on March 22, 1932 and Phillip Lee Pont on August 16, 1938. She enjoyed being a homemaker, canning, cooking, sewing and crocheting as well as leading 4-H and being an Avon lady. She was the most wonderful Grandmother that God ever created. Mary and Claude moved to Oakland, IA in 1934 and then relocated to Cumberland, IA in 1953. In 1978 they retired from the farm and moved to Clarksville, AR where they lived happily until 1996 when Claude passed away. Mary moved from the acreage they enjoyed so much into an apartment in Clarksville where she lived until August of this year. She enjoyed good health until that time. She moved back to Atlantic, IA on October 2, 2004 and resided at Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center. She passed away early November 6, 2004. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Claude and daughter-in-law Nadine Pont.
