Obituary for Darlene Lucille Pittman

Darlene Lucille Pittman, 77, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Friday, September 13, 2002, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital.The daughter of Ralph C. and Rosa B. (Templeman) Rich, Darlene was born September 6, 1925 at Lorah in Cass County, Iowa. She attended country school in the rural Anita area and graduated from Atlantic High School in 1943. Darlene was united in marriage to Jack Pittman on March 26, 1944 in Atlantic. She and Jack farmed in Cass County and then bought their farm northeast of Walnut in 1964. They moved to Atlantic in December of 1982, but continued farming until retirement in August of 1988. Darlene was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church since 1952. She had been baptized on January 29, 1939 in the Methodist Church.Darlene is survived by her husband, Jack Pittman, of Atlantic; one daughter, Connie Biscoff and her husband, Paul, of Burnsville, Minnesota; two grandsons Chad and Brian Biscoff, also of Burnsville, Minnesota; one sister, Hazel Brumbaugh and her husband, Joseph, of Atlantic; one sister-in-law, Betty Pitman of Letts, Iowa; two cousins, Wayne Rich and his wife, Myrtle, of Atlantic and Bernice Simmons and her husband, Carl, of Massena; four nephews and two nieces. Also surviving are longtime friends and neighbors, Walter and Clara Jones of Walnut.Funeral InformationFuneral services for Darlene were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic on Tuesday, September 17, 2002, at 2:30 P.M. with Pastor Stephen Gronseth officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
