Phyllis Anderson

Phyllis Anderson, 82, of Atlantic, Iowa, died Monday, November 6, 2023, at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.

Phyllis Ann was born on March 1, 1941, in Atlantic, Iowa, the daughter of Phillip and Elsie (Silvey) Most.  She grew up and attended school in Atlantic.  Phyllis worked at Husker and Publisher News prior to taking a position at Hy-Vee.  She started in the bakery but spent a majority of her nearly 30-year career in grocery, enjoying the connections she made to the customers and catching up on the latest town news.  In retirement, there wasn’t much she missed either, getting filled in as she made her rounds on daily drives.  Phyllis also cleaned local businesses including Wiederstein Law Office, Brocker Karns & Karns and Wells Fargo, all the way back to when it was Atlantic State Bank.

Phyllis was a member of the B.P.O Does, Drove #23.  She wasn’t much for hobbies but did enjoy attending water aerobics classes at the YMCA and watching her game shows including The Price Is Right, Family Feud and Wheel of Fortune, which was her favorite.  Phyllis definitely never let you go hungry!  Her meals were always delicious and her crème puffs and roasted mashed potatoes were especially big hits.  Phyllis was independent and fairly private, content to be quiet at home much of the time.

If there was one thing she definitely, was it was family oriented; looking forward to spending as much time as she could with them.  Her grandkids will always treasure their trips to the city to go shopping and grab a bite to eat and the great-grandkids time she spent babysitting them and taking them to school.

Phyllis’ spitfire, take nothing and tell you like it is personality was one of a kind.  She is survived by her son, Wade Anderson; grandchildren, Heather (Ashton) Seffron, Nick Anderson and Taylor Anderson; great-grandchildren, Journey, Mason, River, Bentley, Karter and Layken; and extended family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Elsie Most; son, Rick Anderson; and brother, Gary Most.

The family will host a Celebration of Life at a later date.
