Obituary for A. Lorraine Pflugshaupt

A. Lorraine Pflugshaupt, 90, of Atlantic, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2002, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital.The daughter of George and Stella (Larimore) Turk, Lorraine was born November 29, 1911 at Afton, Iowa. She grew up in the Walnut area where she graduated from Walnut High School in 1930. She attended college at Omaha University, Cedar Falls and Drake University. On December 23, 1931, Lorraine was married to Elmer J. Pflugshaupt at the Methodist Parsonage in Omaha, Nebraska. The couple farmed until 1946 when they moved to their acreage in Walnut. They later moved to their new home at 1400 Lincoln Drive in Atlantic. She continued to live there for three and one-half years after Elmer's death on June 27, 1984 and then moved to 704 Cherry Street on September 11, 1991. Lorraine taught elementary school for many years in Walnut and the rural area, substituting for two years in Atlantic before retiring. She was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Walnut.Surviving are Lowell Turk of Atlantic; Gary, Janet and Daniel Turk of Madison, Wisconsin; sister-in-law Florence Pflugshaupt of Walnut; and a number of nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and one daughter, Marolyn Joy.Funeral InformationA graveside service will be held for Lorraine on Friday, February 15, 2002 at the Graceland Cemetery at Avoca, Iowa at 10:00 AM with Rev. Doris Ruben of Peace United Church of Christ in Walnut officiating.
