Merrill F. Petty
Merrill Freeman Petty passed away Thursday morning, April 28, 2005 at the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa at the age of 84 years.Merrill was born November 13, 1920 in Audubon county to Albert Freeman and Madeline (Bills) Petty. He was married to Mary Ann Petty on April 11, 1953. Merrill was employed for I. E. Power for 30 years retiring in 1982. He enlisted in the Army in Audubon, IA, serving in WWII and was a member of the AMVETS. In his spare time, Merrill enjoyed traveling and camping.He is survived by three children, June Andersen, Anna Lummus and husband, Larry and Mel Petty; grandchildren, Phil Hunter, Hans and Stewart Andersen, Nickolaus Petty, April Lummus, Jeb, Kelly, Meredith, Marshall and Dalton Petty; six great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Hazel Weston, Cora Travis and husband, Marland, Annebelle Chamberlain and husband, Ralph, Charles Petty and wife, Dorothy and many nieces and nephews.Merrill is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Petty; a daughter, Connie Marshall; a grandson, Nathan Hunter; a brother, George; a sister, Myrtle Mae Hoepner and his parents, Albert and Madeline Petty.Services for Merrill will be at the Roland Funeral Home on Monday, May 2, at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Dick Krambeck officiating. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. The casket will remain open during the visitation and the funeral for viewing.
