Emilie Peterson

Emilie Anne Gretchen Brehmer Peterson, 93, of Atlantic, passed away Friday, February 22, 2002, at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center.The daughter of Emil A. and "Tena" Katherine (Schultz) Brehmer, Emilie was born August 27, 1908 west of Atlantic in Washington Township where she grew up and attended Washington Township #2. She graduated from Atlantic High School in 1927 and later taught at Washington Township #1. Emilie was married to Clarence Peterson on January 16, 1929 at the home of her parents and they farmed west of Atlantic. She entered the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center December 31, 1998. Emilie was a member of the United Church of Christ.Surviving are one daughter Doris sothman and husband Lawrence "Larry" of Lewis, Iowa; one son Daryll L. Peterson and wife Janice of Atlantic; five grandchildren, Vaughn Sothman and wife Paula of Colby, Kansas; Val Sothman and wife Susan of Lewis, Iowa, Cynthia Younger and husband Doug of Kansas City, Missouri, Tamara Hetrick and husband Jeff of Atlantic and Kevin Peterson of Atlantic; great-grandchildren Erin and Vanessa Sothman of colby, Emilie Sothman of Lewis, Aaron Younger of Kansas City, Cherese Guyer and husband Chet of Atlantic, Corey Hetrick of Ames, Myles Hetrick of Atlantic, Stephanie, Smantha and Brody Peterson of Atlantic; great-great-grandchildren, Ashleigh Waltz and Morgan Guyer of Atlantic; one brother Alfred O. Brehmer of Aurora, Colorado; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother Emil Brehmer, Jr.Funeral InformationA graveside service for Emilie will be held on Monday, February 25, at the Atlantic Cemetery at Atlantic, Iowa at 9:45 AM followed by a memorial service at 10:30 AM at the United Church of Christ in Atlantic. Rev. Sue Hyndman will officiate.
