Mildred Petersen
Millie Petersen, a long time resident of Atlantic, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 4, 2011, at the Colonial Manor in Anita at the age of 91. Mildred Marie was born on January 25, 1920 to Lloyd Chandler and Maud Reese in Adair County, Iowa. She worked long and hard at Albertson's Dry Cleaning. Millie was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church. She loved the outdoors, nature (pressing leaves), poetry and clocks. Millie will be missed by all of the dear friends she met over her long life. She leaves behind three loving grandchildren Robert (Julie) Kinzie, Debra (Keith) Borschert and Susan (Mark) Stebbins. Millie was deeply loved by her step-granddaughter Gwena Doss. She will be greatly missed by her 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Millie will always be remembered as mother to daughter-in-law Patricia Kinzie. She is preceded in death by her only son Jerold L. Kinzie and her parents. There will be an open visitation from 8:00 to 5:30 on Friday, July 8, with a family visitation Saturday morning, July 9, at 9:30 with the services following at 10:30 at the Roland Funeral Home. Pastor Lanette Plambeck of the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic is officiating. Committal will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Anita.
