Jeff Petersen

Jeff Petersen, 60, of Walnut, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2016, at Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.

Jeffrey Bruce Petersen was born on January 12, 1956, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the son of Bruce William and Willa Charlyne (Croft) Petersen. During his childhood he tap danced and was active in Boy Scouts. He was involved in sports for Walnut Community Schools; playing football, basketball and his favorite, baseball. Jeff enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1973, and received his basic training in California at Camp Pendleton. He spent a short time at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, and was stationed in Japan.

Jeff was married to Jayne Ponsor for a time, and later Roxann Chase. He worked for InfraSource, an underground utility company, for over 20 years. He was a huge Husker fan, GO BIG RED! Jeff proudly supported the 2nd Amendment, and had a large gun collection which he loved to show off.

Jeff will be deeply missed by his mother, Willa Petersen of Walnut; children, James Petersen and his wife, Dana of Alabama, Trisha Cook and her husband, Jason of Atlantic, Joe Petersen and his wife, Kim of Omaha, Lacey Stephens and her husband, Chris of Stanton, Gabby Johnson and her husband, Jeremiah of Cumberland, and Felesha Petersen and her fiancé, Jeremy Petersen of Marne; grandchildren, Braxton and Gavin Petersen, Kyra and Owen Cook, Jenna and Cooper Stephens, Cali and Makena Petersen, and Alyse Petersen; and brothers, Brett Petersen and his wife, Fran of Walnut and Mark Petersen and his wife, Susie of Avoca.

He is preceded in death by his father, Bruce; and brother-in-law, (who was like his own brother), Lane Chase.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 30th at Roland Funeral Home.

Funeral services will held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 31st at Roland Funeral Home, with Pastor Casey Pelzer officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Layton Township Cemetery in Walnut.
