Obituary for Dwight L. Petersen

Dwight Petersen, 56, of Lewisville, Texas, died December 14, 2005, at the Veterans Hospital in Dallas, Texas.Dwight was born to Loren Christopher and Dorothy Roseann Meyer Petersen of Atlantic, Iowa in Creston, Iowa on November 17, 1949. He attended the Atlantic School System and was involved in the Brighton Bobcats 4-H Club, FFA and band. Dwight was a born-again Christian, saved at the age of 12. He attended the Atlantic Gospel Chapel until 1969 at which time he enlisted in the Air Force. Dwight married Eileen Schultz in November, 1970. He served in Viet Nam and was honorably discharged in March, 1974. Chris was born in 1973 and Sharon followed in 1975. He worked as a meat buyer for 30 years. Dwight attended Prestonwood Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. He loved his family and was a great dad, brother, husband, son, and grandpa. His two-year-old granddaughter, Brianna was a highlight in his life. He just waited for her precious smile and loving little arms. Gardening was a special hobby, going to the park with Sharon and Brianna, and romping with his dog Lady.Dwight is survived by Eileen Petersen, his wife of 33 years, his son, Chris Petersen (wife, Heather) of Bedford Texas; a daughter, Sharon Knowles (husband Ryan) of Lewisville, Texas, and granddaughter, Brianna; his mother, Dorothy Petersen; and two sisters, Kathryn McCarty (husband Mike) from Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Karen Ridlen (husband Larry) of Fairview, Tennessee. He was also loved by his nieces, Melissa Clevenger (husband Lance) and their two sons, Jackson and Jacob; Elizabeth Taylor (husband Brandon) and their children, Cheyenne and B.
