JACKIE PELZER
Jackie Pelzer, 75, of Marne, Iowa, passed away peacefully early Thursday, January 16, at her home in Marne.
Jacqueline Jo Oakes, the daughter of Paul Laverne and Benedicta Grace Hiscocks Oakes was born July 14, 1938, in Atlantic, Iowa. She grew up north of Atlantic on her grandfather's farm and attended Pymosa #3 Country School. Later, she graduated from Atlantic High School in 1956. Jackie met Donald Lee Pelzer at the Marne Ballpark and they were married December 27, 1960 in Atlantic, Iowa. She worked for the FSA Office for about 25 years, only taking a break for a short time when her boys were small.
Jackie was a member of the Atlantic BPO Does, Marne Red Hats, FSA Cass County Committee and loved the Friday Night Fellowship at the Marne Bar. She loved playing & pitching Softball, Volleyball and also, Bowling, going to State Tournaments. The purchase of her brother's original, 1965 Ford Galaxy convertible brought a lot of fun to their life. Their grandkids were the special highlight! Her family recalls that she always had a joke to tell. She loved people and could talk to anyone.
She is survived by her husband, Don of Marne; two sons, Jeffrey of Atlantic and his three children, Alaena "Laeni," Blake & Corrine "Corri;" and John (Heather) Pelzer of Excelsior Springs (near Kansas City, MO) and their three children, Alexandra, Zachary & Elijah; her sister, Linda Lou Allen of Mesa, AZ; and nieces, nephews & cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Paul L. Oakes, Jr.; and a brother-in-law, Mel Allen.
