RODNEY ALLEN PEDERSEN
Rodney A. Pedersen, 72, died Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Atlantic Specialty Care in Atlantic.
The son of Axel H. and Martha Kyhn Pedersen, Rodney was born February 26, 1944, in the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic. Rodney attended Grant Elementary School in Atlantic through the 2nd Grade. At the age of 8, he lived in Glenwood at the State Hospital. He then moved to Willow Heights in Atlantic, until moving to Crossroads in Onawa for a number of years, finally making his home at Atlantic Specialty Care in 2014. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic.
Going to rodeos was a favorite outing for Rodney, as he loved horses. He collected model trucks and was always fascinated by different kinds of watches. He was a regular participant in the Special Olympics.
Rodney is survived by four siblings including Marcella Gaines and Larry (Dixie) Pedersen both of Atlantic, Iowa, Jim Pedersen of Shelby, Iowa and Dan (Chris) Pedersen of Papillion, NE; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin sisters, LaJean and LaWean; brother-in-law, Jerry Gaines, Sr. and nephew, Ron Jordan.
Memorial services will be held Friday, December 30, 2016, two o'clock p.m., at Roland Funeral Home. Family will meet friends and relatives at Rolands' from one o'clock till service time. Cremation is taking place and a private inurnment will be held in the Atlantic Cemetery at a later date.
