Obituary for
Norma Jean Pedersen
NORMA JEAN PEDERSEN Norma Jean Pedersen, age 77, of Atlantic, Iowa and formerly of Anita and Brayton, Iowa, passed away early Thursday morning, March 17, 2011, at the Cass County Hospice Center in Atlantic, Iowa. Norma Jean was born May 28, 1933 to George Lund and Bertha (Bauer) Lund at her grandparents' home east of Exira. She grew up west of Anita and attended rural country school. Due to rutted rough roads, during high school she lived at a boarding house and came home on weekends to be with her family. She graduated from Anita High School in 1951. As a 2nd grader, Norma Jean fell in love with a special boy in the 7th grade. In years to come he also fell in love with her. On June 17th, 1951, Norma Jean and Lloyd were married at the Anita Lutheran Church in Anita, Iowa. Through the years she grew gardens and kids and cooked while Lloyd worked on their farm east of Brayton where they lived for 36 years. During that time, when their kids were little, she also was a 4-H leader for many years. In 1989 they moved to Atlantic where they lived for 21 years. While living in Atlantic, Norma Jean loved to "talk Lloyd into" doing landscaping projects with her and together they created a "secret garden" in their backyard that was like walking into a flowering and plant filled haven. She not only loved to decorate the outside but enjoyed decorating their home for every holiday. Norma Jean also had a successful Amway business and helped promote Easter Seals. She also was involved with nutrition and Global Health Trax. After Lloyd passed away, October 2009, she moved into Allen House. She made many friends there and served as the President of Aktion Club through Kiwanis. Most of all she enjoyed her kids and grandkids and loved watching them grow, and she never outgrew her love of getting all the relatives together. Norma Jean will be loved and missed by many.
