Obituary for Lawrence Pedersen

Lawrence Pedersen, 81, of Oakland Manor in Oakland, Iowa and formerly of Atlantic area, passed away on the evening of July 29, 2011.
Lawrence was born the son of Hans C. and Mabel "Grace" (Prather) Pedersen on September 8, 1929 north of Lyman, Iowa. He grew up in the Lyman area where he attended grade school and then a rural Atlantic school.
In 1950, Lawrence was married to Bertha Gladys Kuesel and later to Phyllis Fudge in 1966. He was father of four sons and three daughters. He was a farm hand with Charles Gross for a number of years and eventually performed janitorial work in Des Moines and later at the Heritage House in Atlantic, until he became disabled with a back injury.
He will be remembered for his jolly, outgoing personality and thoughtfulness.
He is survived by his sons, Bill Pedersen of Bridgewater, Larry (Karen) Pedersen of Atlantic, Don Pedersen of Atlantic, Richard Pedersen of Oakland; his daughters, Betty Pedersen of Omaha, NE and Terri Sue (Bill) Clinton of Lawson, MO; a brother Gilbert (Madeline) Pedersen of Atlantic; a sister Marlene Bagstad of Duluth, MN; tfifteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Phyllis; his daughter Nancy in 1986; a great granddaughter and a brother Harold Pedersen.
Lawrence's funeral service will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday, August 2 at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. Pastor Ken Davidson of the Zion Lutheran Church, in Atlantic, will officiate. The committal service will be in Brighton Cemetery at Marne, Iowa. There will be Open Visitation, at the Roland Funeral Home, on Sunday, July 31, from 12:00 noon until 5:00 P.M. and on Monday, August 1, from 8:00 A.M. until the Family will Meet with Relatives and Friends from 5:00 until 6:00 P.M.
