Nona Myrl Palmer
Nona Myrl Palmer, 83, formerly of the Atlantic area, passed away Friday, March 30, 2001 at the Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars, Iowa, where she was a resident.The daughter of Virgil E. and Bessie (Burns) Nelson, she was born December 24, 1917 in rural Audubon County and graduated in 1935 from the Lewis Consolidated High School. Her marriage to William R. Palmer took place on August 27, 1937 in Lewis, Iowa. Following their marriage, the couple farmed in the rural Walnut, Atlantic, Kimballton and Wiota areas. They moved to Spencer in 1961 and Le Mars in 1995. Nona was a cook and supervisor for 17 years for the hot lunch program at the Spencer community schools. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Nona was an active member of the Moose Lodge Atlantic, where she held all offices.Mrs. Palmer is survived by her daughter, Connie Anderson of Elk Horn, Iowa; three sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and his wife Bonnie of Le Mars, Iowa, Tim and his wife Mary of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Scott and his wife Madelyn of Spencer, Iowa; a daughter in-law, Louene Palmer of Clara City, Minnesota; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ardelle Clevenger of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband, William; a son, Ronnie, a granddaughter, Angela Palmer; and her son-in-law, Marvin Anderson.Funeral InformationServices for Nona were held Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at 10:30AM at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa with Pastor Fred Gums of LeMars Bible Church officiating.Interment was in the Atlantic Cemetery at Atlanic, Iowa.
