Obituary for Glenn R. Pagel

Glenn R. Pagel completed his earthly journey on Friday, August 29, 2003, following a four month illness. He was born August 25, 1919 in Atwater, MN. Atlantic had been his home since 1934.He served as a Master Sergeant Flight Engineer in the US Air Force for four years during WWII. In 1945 he joined his father in operating Pagel Maytag. Later Glenn was employed by the Gas Company in Atlantic and Hawkeye Electric. During this time he made many friends in the surrounding area.Glenn was a man of many talents. He built his first home, later restored and lived in a country school house near Atlantic. He was an avid hunter as well as a master carver of gun stocks. Nishna Hills Golf Club came into being as a result of a group including Glenn. His skill and love of golf helped him win many tournaments.He was preceded in death by his parents EG and Mae Pagel; wife Madalon; son Jay and sister Yvonne (Woodrow) Roberts. His family who will miss his love and unique spirit include: brother Richard (Carol) Pagel of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; step-daughter Lori (Kevin) Wilby of Glendale, CA; daughter-in-law Gimber Pagel of Grand Rapids, MN; step granddaughter Karmann (Leon) Peters of Minneapolis, MN; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.Funeral InformationA memorial service for Glenn will be held Sunday, September 21, 2003, at the Roland Funeral Home at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Karen Hoff of the First United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery in Atlantic, Iowa.
