Frances Nichols

FRANCES MARIE (DEALY) NICHOLS Frances Marie (Dealy) Nichols, a long time resident of the Atlantic area and a resident of Heritage House for 21 years, passed away Monday morning, November 3, 2008, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa at the age of 98. Frances was born to Joseph and Etta Belle (Blakely) Dealy on March 6, 1910 west of Atlantic. She attended school in the Lewis Community Schools and graduated from the Lewis High School. Frances went on to Simpson College where she received a teaching degree and then taught at Orient, Iowa. On March 4, 1933, Frances was united in marriage to Edwin Evan Nichols in Atlantic. Edwin passed away on October 26, 1986. Frances was very involved in her community and church as a member of a church circle and the Federated Club. She and Edwin enjoyed a summer home they had near Estes Park, Colorado and many six week fishing trips they made to Canada. She is survived by a daughter Alyce Lane and husband Robert of Atlantic; grandchildren, Pam Lane and Robin Swanson of Kansas City, MO., Gerri Blake and husband Roger of Walnut, IA., and Cynthia Raymond of Evergreen, CO.; great grandchildren, Thomas Vacek of Kansas City, MO., Adam Swanson and wife Alicia of Kettery, Maine, who is in the service, Chelsea Fox and husband Justin of Kansas City, MO., Bailee Swanson of Kansas City, MO., Courtney and Amanda Blake of Ames, IA, Alisha and Katelyn Blake of Walnut, IA and Gregory Raymond of Evergreen, CO. Frances is preceded in death by her husband Edwin, a daughter Marilyn Kappler and a granddaughter Melissa Haynes.Funeral InformationServices for Frances will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2008 with the burial in the Atlantic Cemetery at 10:00 AM followed by a memorial service at the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic at 11:00 AM. Pastor Gary DeGeest will officiate. An open visitation will be held at the Roland Funeral Home until 9:00 AM Thursday morning.
