Betty A. Nichols
Betty Ann Nichols, 63, a longtime Atlantic resident, died unexpectedly in her home in Council Bluffs, Iowa on Friday, June 29, 2007. Betty was born the daughter of Merritt Isaac and Estella May (Flathers) Boggs on May 20, 1944 in Atlantic, Iowa. She attended school in Atlantic and became a nurse aid. She was married to Marvin Elmer Nichols in March of 1973. The couple lived in Atlantic where they enjoyed raising their two children. She was employed at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center in Atlantic and more recently was self-employed as a refinance loan closer and notary. Betty will be remembered for her great personality. She was "happy go lucky" and entertained friends and family with her country western music. She was a loving mother and grandmother.She is survived by her children, George G. Nichols of Council Bluffs and her daughter Marla Todd of Council Bluffs; her grandchildren, Valarie Todd and Devon Nichols; sisters and brothers, Janice Hines of Des Moines, Mary Jane McDermott and husband Mac of Atlantic, Lela Petersen of Atlantic, Marylin Luke of Lewis, Muriel Riley of Lewis, Leslie Boggs and his wife Karen of Atlantic, Sandy Roberts and husband Mike of Lewis ; in-laws, Janis Boggs of Atlantic, Edna Boggs of Cedar Rapids, Zetta Stuetaelberg and husband Bob of Brayton, John Dennis of Brayton, Bill Oliver of Harlan and Doris (Nichols) Nicholson of Omaha; and many nieces and nephews.
