Louise Nettz, 84, of Casey, Iowa died Sunday, July 25, 2021 at Mercy One Hospice in Johnston, Iowa.

Louise was born on September 29, 1936, in Orebro, Sweden, the daughter of Malte Emil and Helga Karolina Louise (Johansson) Mansson. She was a member of Bilkåristerna, Swedish Voluntary Corps; driving heavy military vehicles. Louise was the first Swedish female functionary in Speedway (MC dirt track). On April 30, 1959, she moved to the United States and settled in Des Moines, Iowa. While living there she worked as a stock broker and as a travel agent at Johnny’s House of Travel; a business she would later own. Louise also taught Swedish for many years in the evening at a high school in Des Moines and was a contact for Swedish exchange students in Iowa. She attended the Betty Boone Modeling School and later was honored to be named Miss Iowa in 1965. She led a very active life!

On October 9, 1976, she was united in marriage to Roger Nettz, and the couple settled on a farm near Casey, Iowa.

Louise is survived by her sister, Vivi-Anne Niklasson and her husband, Ove; nieces, nephews and their families, Lars Niklasson and his wife, Louise and their daughters, Viktoria and Julia, Erik Niklasson and his wife, Frida and their children, Sebastian and Emilia; brother-in-law, Ove Nilsson and his daughter, Carolin Gyllenbreider and her husband, Anders and their son, Andre; and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Malte and Helga Mansson; husband, Roger Nettz; Roger’s three-year-old son, Patrick Nettz; brother-in-law, Richard Nettz; and sister, Birgitta Nilsson.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Oakwood Cemetery in Lewis, Iowa.

Memorials may be directed in Louise’s name to the Animal Rescue League, 5452 NE 22nd Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50313.
