Betty Neice

BETTY JEAN NEICE Betty Jean Neice of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2010, at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center at the age of 85. Betty was born in Council Bluffs to Thomas Eugene and Nora Frances Curran on August 21, 1925. She attended school in Glenwood, Iowa and was living at the Atlantic Cass County Care Facility, also known as the Sunshine Farm, when she met Kenneth Neice whom she later married on July 17, 1982. Betty was one of the first clients from Sunshine Farm to take part in the supervised apartment program and she did very well. When she and Kenneth were married, they did fine on their own. Betty enjoyed singing and joined the church choir. After living in an apartment, Cass, Inc. helped locate a house which met their needs, not far from downtown. Ken continued his work at Cass, Inc. and Betty became a full time homemaker. They were very happy there and had a nice garden where they could raise radishes, corn and tomatoes. Kenneth passed away on February 2, 1991. Betty later moved to the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center.Funeral Information There will be an open visitation at the Roland Funeral Home on Friday, August 27, from 8:00 A.M. until 5:30 P.M. and on Saturday, August 28, from 12:00 noon until 4:00 P.M. Services for Betty will be held on Monday, August 30, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic at 10:30 A.M. There will be open visitation at the church from 9:30 until 10:30, prior to services. A luncheon will follow the service at the Parish Center with interment in the Atlantic Cemetery at 1:00 P.M.
