Josephine Neiby

Josephine Marie Neiby, 84, a resident of Heritage house in Atlantic, passed away there Friday evening, July 6, 2001.The daughter of Harlow C. and Anna Marie (Johnson) Smith, Jo was born March 30, 1917 in Whitewater, Wisconsin. Her family moved to Oklahoma and then to Omaha and she graduated from Central High School in Omaha. Following her marriage to Charles J. Neiby, Jr. in Omaha, they operated the Neiby furniture store in Atlantic until 1964 and then established Claremar Fabrics retiring in 1988. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic and served as a deacon. She was active in the Does and Republican Women.Surviving are one son, Dr. Claire Paul Neiby and his wife Louise of Sierra Madre, California; one daughter, Margaret Anne Neiby Lippincott and her husband William of Pringhar, Iowa; three grandchildren, Shaun Lippincott and his wife, Carrie, of State Center, Iowa, Michelle Claussen and her husband, John, of Elkhart, Iowa, Kristine Wolfe and her husband, Larry, of St. Joseph, Missouri; 10 great-grandchildren, Ross, Lindsy, Ashley and Logan Lippincott, Stephennie Paul, Jake, Maria and Jonah Claussen, Hannah and Valerie Wolf.She was preceded in death by her parents, Harlow and Anna Smith; her husband, Charles Neilby, Jr.; and one brother, Richard Smith.Funeral InformationServices for Jo were held Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at 10:00AM at the First United Presbyterian Church in Atlantic with Reverend Melinda Chambers of Keota, Iowa officiating.
