Carl V. Nash
Carl V. Nash, 79, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2002, at Harrisonville, Missouri as a result of a car accident.The son of Jesse M. and Opal (Abel) Nash, Carl was born July 14, 1922 in Squires, Missouri. He came to Iowa as a young boy at the age of 15 to work on his uncle's farm. He met Hyla Babbitt, a young neighbor girl, and they were married May 17, 1942 in Ava, Missouri. Carl served in the United States Army during World War II and upon returning from the war, he began nearly 20 years of farming in the Marne, Avoca and Minden areas. Carl and Hyla moved to Mayo, Florida in 1962 where they ran a small motel and restaurant. They returned to Atlantic in 1964 and have made their home at 1201 Birch St. Carl was a car salesman for 20 years before retiring in 1984. Carl enjoyed fishing, woodworking and playing cards with family and friends. His greatest pride was his wife, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Carl is survived by his wife, Hyla; five children, Mary Reimer and her husband, Larry, of Atlantic, Joan Siebels of Minden,Iowa, Nancy Strittmatter and her husband, Dick, of Sioux City, Iowa, Rick Nash and his wife, Phyllis, of Manhattan, Kansas, and Kim Warth and her husband, Todd, of Appleton, Wisconsin; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Oden Nash of Ava, Missouri and Jerry Nash and his wife, Kathleen, of Harrisonville, Missouri; two sisters, Lorene Nash of Ava, Missouri and Esther Durham and her husband, Lee, of Kansas City, Missouri; several brothers and sisters-in-law; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Ross, Elroy, Bob and Ed.Funeral InformationServices for Carl will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2002 at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic at 10:30 A.M. with Pastor Ron Barnett of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in the Monroe Cemetery north of Walnut, Iowa.
