Frederick (Fred) Henry Nagel
Fred Nagel of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012, at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center at the age of 90 years.
Fred was born on September 15, 1922 in Guthrie Center, Iowa to Lloyd Earl and Mabel Clare Gustin Nagel. The family later moved to Wiota and then to Anita where Fred attended high school. After leaving high school, he joined the United States Army. to fight for America in World War II. He was wounded three times over the next four years. On July 12, 1942, Fred was united in marriage to Betty Ann Carr in Maryville, Missouri. In 1954 he began a ministry in the Church of God of Prophecy. During the years to follow he ministered in the states of Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Texas. He and Betty later retired to Atlantic.
He is survived by his son, George Nagel and wife Beverly of Trimble, MO; three daughters, Peggy Bailey and husband Bill of Middlesex, NC, Terry Bennett and husband Greg of Yukon, OK and Donna Mangham of San Felipe, Mexico; seven grandchildren, Bruce Nagel and wife Cheryl of Paola, KS, Gina Cowan and husband Darryl of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, Jeffery Bennett of Bishop, TX, Scott Bennett and wife Sherry of Pueblo, Mexico, Kristy George of Yukon, OK, Neil Bailey and wife Hannah of Middlesex, NC and Chad Young and wife Brandi of Kyle, TX; ten great-grandchildren, Andrea and Ashlee Nagel of Paola, KS, Jessica and Dylan George of Yukon, OK, Danielle, Victoria and Andrew Bennett of Bishop, TX and Josslyn, Eli and Meeka Cowan of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada; and one brother Kenneth Nagel of Greeley, CO.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann; his parents, Lloyd and Mabel Nagel; brothers Arthur and James Nagel; and great-granddaughter Brittany George.
Their will be a family visitation on Sunday, December 30, from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. Services for Fred will be held at the funeral home on Monday, December 31, at 10:30 am with Rev. Catherine Ray officiating. Burial will be in the Atlantic Cemetery at a later date.
