BETTY ANN NAGEL Betty Ann Nagel, age 88, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 18, 2011, at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center. Betty Ann Carr was born on February 26, 1923 to George Grant and Clara Mary (Brosam) Carr in Atlantic, Iowa. She grew up in Atlantic and graduated from the Atlantic High School in 1942. On July 12, 1942, Betty was united in marriage to Frederick Henry Nagel in Maryville, Missouri. They would have been married 69 years on July 12 of this year. Betty enjoyed her life as a housewife and wife of a minister. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Atlantic. She is survived by her husband Frederick of Atlantic; one son George Nagel and wife Beverly of Trimble, MO; three daughters, Peggy Bailey and husband Bill of Middlesex, NC, Terry Bennett and husband Greg of Yukon, OK and Donna Mangham of San Felipe, Mexico; 7 grandchildren, Bruce Nagel and wife Cheryl of Paola, KS, Gina Cowan and husband Darryl of Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada, Jeffery Bennett and wife Caroline of Bishop, TX, Scott Bennett and wife Sherry of Puebla, Mexico, Kristy George of Yukon, OK, Neil Bailey and wife Hannah of Middlesex, NC and Chad Young and wife Brandi of Kyle, TX; nine great-grandchildren, Andrea and Ashlee Nagel of Paola, KS, Jessica and Dylan George of Yukon, OK, Danielle, Victoria and Andrew Bennett of Bishop, TX and Josslyn and Eli Cowan of Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada; two brothers, John Carr and wife Phyllis of Atlantic, IA and Jerry Carr and wife Carolyn of Winston-Salem, NC; four sisters, Irene Nagel of Clarinda, IA, Leona Juel and husband Howard of Kimballton, IA, Doris Kinnison and husband Gordon of Omaha, NE and Sharon Rock and husband Larry of Atlantic, IA. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Clara and George Carr; one brother, Floyd Carr; two sisters, Florence Swift and Imogene Herrick; one great-granddaughter, Brittany May George.Funeral Information There will be open visitation at the Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic from noon to 5:30 on Thursday, May 19 and from 8:00 A.M. on Friday, May 20, until the family meets with friends from 6:30 to 8:30 in the evening. Services for Betty will be at the funeral home on Saturday, May 21, at 10:00 A.M. with committal in the Atlantic Cemetery.
