Willard Bruce Muller
WILLARD B. MULLER Willard Bruce Muller was born April 17, 1916 to May Nellie Berg and Christopher Otto Muller on a farm near Audubon, Iowa. He was married to Gladys Marie Retz on June 27, 1939. She preceded him in death in February 1984. Willard was married to Ruth Berg at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa on October 22, 1985. He passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2010, at the Heritage House in Atlantic.Willard attended Noble Center Country School for eight years and graduated from Grant High School in 1934. In 1935, he attended a poultry school in Charles City, Iowa. Willard enjoyed 4-H, showing his baby beef calves, and judging livestock. Willard farmed and fed cattle and hogs in Cass County all of his life, retiring in 1985. He and his father also ran a chicken hatchery for 50 years. He was an avid reader of non-fiction literature. He enjoyed traveling both in the US and abroad. He and Gladys hosted many foreign exchange students and visited many of them in their home countries. In his later years, Willard enjoyed attending his grandchildren"s sporting events. He enjoyed golfing and gave up the sport after turning 90. He was also a loyal Iowa State and Chicago Cubs fan, attending a home game at Wrigley field in his eighties. Willard was a member of the Noble Center United Methodist Church and the Atlantic Lions Club.He is survived by his wife Ruth of Heritage House in Atlantic; his three sons and their wives: Kent and Jan of Griswold, Gary and Jackie of Mesa, AZ, and Wendell and Connie of Massena; thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; two step-children: Pat Fechtner and her family and Tom Andrews and his family.; a brother-in-law, Vernon Wohlenhaus, and two nieces. Willard was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys, his sister Lucille Hanton; brother-in-law, Clifford Hanton; a sister-in-law Maxine Wohlenhaus; a brother in infancy; and his parents, Otto and May Muller.Funeral InformationWillard"s funeral service will be held at Noble Center United Methodist Church, in rural Lyman at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, September 1. Rev.Gerald Wiser will officiate. The committal service will follow at the Noble Center United Methodist Cemetery. There will be a private family viewing at 6:00 on Tuesday, August 31 at Roland Funeral Home in Atlantic. Following, the family will be available to meet with relatives and friends after 6:30 P.M.Open visitation at Rolands from 8:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M.
