Obituary for Winifred R Mueller
Winifred Ruth “Babe” Mueller, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the age of 100 years.
Babe Mueller was born in Atlantic, Iowa on November 14, 1914, to Clarence Brown and B. Muriel (Thompson) Brown. She graduated from Atlantic High School in 1932.
On November 8, 1933, she married Lester "Chet" Mueller in Atlantic. Babe and Chet were rock hounds, belonging to several rock clubs, and traveled around the United States as collectors and lecturers.
Babe lived in Atlantic most of her life except for a few years in California when her husband worked for General Electric. They also spent time working at a summer youth camp in Colorado.
Babe was an avid flower gardener and belonged to several card clubs. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Atlantic, Iowa.
In heaven she will be reuniting with her husband of 67 years, Lester “Chet” Mueller; brothers, Gerald, Byron and Bob Brown; and sister, Carole Parker.
She is survived by her sister, Donnabelle Willis, of Colorado Springs, CO; sisters-in-law, Genevieve Brown of Pleasant Hill, IA, and Nola Brown of Anita, IA; along with 17 beloved nieces and nephews; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 28, 2015, at the United Church of Christ in Atlantic, with Pastor Nancy Jensen officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
Open visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 26th and Wednesday, May 27th at the funeral home. No family visitation is scheduled.
