Obituary for Myrtle L Morris (Bishop)

MYRTLE MORRIS

Myrtle Lorene Morris, 79, formerly of Atlantic, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2015, at her home in Adair.

The daughter of Earl Bishop and Jessie (Wing) Bishop, she was born August 12, 1935, in the Stockton, Missouri area, where she grew up and graduated from high school. Myrtle was united in marriage to Francis Edmond Morris, September 27, 1954, in Atlantic, Iowa, where they remained throughout most of her life. She was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker and as her sons grew older, her caring heart took her to work with the elderly at the Heritage House in Atlantic for a few years. In 2012, she moved to Adair to live with one of her sons.

Myrtle loved gardening and growing flowers and had over 300 varieties on her property. Each year, a number of individuals from around the Midwest would return to purchase their favorites. Her family recalls her always putting others before herself. She was very loving, caring and never one who wanted material things but always had a content spirit.

She is survived by her three sons, Albert (Katy) of Atlantic; Allen (Rhonda) of Oakland and Arnold (fiancé, Lisa Hansen) of Adair; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Maude Blodgett of El Dorado Springs, MO; brother, James T. Bishop of Dallas, TX; and several nieces, nephews & friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis in 1998; two sisters, Florence Smith and Dollie Hesson; and step-sister, Helen McCurdy.

Open visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. daily until the family gathers to meet friends and relatives on Thursday, March 5th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2015, at Roland Funeral Service in Atlantic, with Pastor James Hickman of Atlantic, officiating.

Committal services will be held in Southlawn Memory Gardens.
