THOMAS "TOM&" A. MONTGOMERY Tom Montgomery, 67, died unexpectedly at his home in Marne, Iowa on Friday, October 15, 2010. Thomas Ashley Montgomery was born on November 19, 1942 to his parents Robert and Arlene (Campbell) Montgomery in Burlington, Iowa. Tom was married to Leanne Marie Larsen at Zion Lutheran Church in Atlantic on February 9, 1964. The couple was blessed with three sons and a daughter. He was employed as an over the road truck driver, with American Buildings Company for 17 years and 15 years with Sunny Fresh. Tom proudly received his 1,000,000 mile safety award well before he put on many more miles before his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, boating, golfing and spending time with his grandchildren and family. Special memories of vacations include taking his children to Peony Park; World's of Fun; Santa Claus Land in Colorado; and family fishing trips to Minnesota. He especially got a kick out of Meg Ryan movies. He loved his family and will be remembered for having a heart of gold. His endearing words, in times of concern were, "Where there"s a will there"s a way.&" and will live on as an encouragement to his children. His survivors include his wife Leanne; and his children – sons, Todd Montgomery and wife Kim of Alexandria, MN, Trent Montgomery and wife Charlotte of Deerwood, MN, and Trevor Montgomery and wife Staci of Walnut, IA; and his daughter Trisha Bell and husband Jim Bell of Atlantic; his sixteen grandchildren, Michael and Sydney Montgomery of Alexandria, MN, Tyler, Cassandra, and Thomas Montgomery, Jr. of Deerwood, MN, Ashley Jensen of Atlantic, IA, Sarah and Alex Minor of Atlantic, IA, Dreanna Bell of Atlantic, IA, Corbin, Marissa, Brooke, Taylor, Trenton, and Sirianna Montgomery of Walnut, IA, and Jake Nelson of McAllen, TX; his sisters, Nancy Christensen and Janet Olsen; and his brother Robert Montgomery. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral InformationHis funeral service will be held at Roland Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 20, at 10:30 A.M. Pastor Aaron Hand of Calvery Baptist Church in Walnut will officiate. Tom"s committal service will take place in the Immanuel Cemetery in Kimballton, Iowa.There will be open visitation, at Rolands on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M.; Monday from 8:00 to 5:30 P.M.; and Tuesday from 8:00 to 5:00 when Family will Meet with Friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M.
