Hilmer Molgaard

Hilmer Ernest Molgaard, 89, or rural Atlantic and Wiota, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2001, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa. The son of Chris Nelson and Karen Christina (Hansen) Molgaard, Hilmer was born May 11, 1912 west of Audubon where he grew up and attended school. He was united in marriage to Dorothy May Wheatley on September 6, 1936 in Omaha, Nebraska. Following marriage they farmed in the Atlantic and Wiota area. Hilmer was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Atlantic and the Farm Bureau.Surviving are his wife Dorothy Molgaard; one daughter Marlene McCoy and husband Robert of Bedford, Iowa; one son Merlyn Molgaard and wife Vonnie of Englewood, Colorado; seven grandchildren, Jason Molgaard, Gregg South and wife Mickie, Scott, Doug, Tim and Michael South and Gayla Groeneweg and husband Jerry; eleven great-grandchildren, Brooke and Trevor South, Kyle, Stephanie and Kateland South, Amanda South, Seth Ashley and Jessica Groeneweg, Leah South and Zachary South.He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Emmert, Alfred and Norman Molgaard and one sister Olivia Christensen.Funeral InformationA graveside service will be held for Hilmer on Friday, November 23, 2001, at 12:30 PM at the Brighton Township Cemetery northeast of Marne, Iowa with Pastor Curtis Denney officiating.
