Folmer Molgaard
Folmer Molgaard, 88, a longtime resident and businessman in the Atlantic, Iowa community passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2002 at the Cass County Memorial Hospital.The son of John Molgaard and Marie (Rasmussen) Molgaard, Folmer was born October 16, 1913 in Brayton, Iowa. He graduated in 1931 from Exira High School. He then married Helen Leona Foss of Exira on September 19, 1934. The couple moved to Atlantic in 1947 when Folmer and his family joined St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Mr. Molgaard was owner of Culligan Water Conditioning which was established in 1941 by his father, John Molgaard. Folmer continue to participate in the business until the spring of 2002.Folmer was a member of the Rotary Club for many years. He was a Paul Harris Fellow in conjunction with the International Rotary Club. He served as a board member of the Salem Lutheran Home Foundation. He was a member of the Atlantic B.P.O.E. #445, as well as a member of the Atlantic Golf and Country Club. Folmer was a volunteer at the International Danish Immigrant Museum and a member of the Friends of the Museum.Folmer is survived by one son, John Molgaard and his wife, Karen, of Atlantic; two daughters, Mary L. Zellmer and her husband, Stan, of Atlantic, and Sue McCoy and her husband, Pat, of Lincoln, Nebraska; eight grandchildren, John Molgaard of Omaha, Peter Molgaard of Atlantic, Mark Zellmer and his wife, Pattee, of Creston, Susan Liston and her husband, Duane, of Downers Grove, Illinois, Paul Zellmer and his wife, Mary Agnes, of Geneva, Illinois, Mike McCoy and his wife, Anne, of Naperville, Illinois, Kathy Stock and her husband, Doug, of St. Louis, Missouri and Tim McCoy and his wife, Ann, of Las Vegas, Nevada; fifteen great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Helen.Funeral InformationFuneral services for Folmer well be held on Saturday, September 14, 2002 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic, Iowa at 10:30 A.M. with Pastor Stephen Gronseth officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
