James Miller

Jim Miller, age 82, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2007, at the Granger Nursing and Rehab Center in Granger, Iowa. James Burton Miller was born July 28, 1925 to Harley and Lela (Walker) Miller at Burlington, Iowa. He was raised on a farm south of Anita and attended school in Anita graduating in 1948. He then attended the University of Iowa. Jim served his country with the Marines in the Pacific during WWII. On August 20, 1948, James was united in marriage to Jeannette May Hood in Fayette, Iowa. They went back to the farm and farmed from 1952 until 1988. Jim was a loving, caring man who was a good husband and father. He was a playful and strong man who could also be ornery and stubborn - but always with a twinkle in his eye. He enjoyed reading and his favorite TV shows, such as "Wheel of Fortune" and "Price is Right&" but above all, he loved his grandkids. Jim was a member of the American Legion in Anita and of Anita Methodist Church. He is survived by two sons, Russell Miller and wife Gloria of Cumberland, IA and Gordon Miller of Brayton, IA; three daughters, Holly Swain of Atlantic, IA, LiaRuth Miller of Des Moines, IA and Dianne Kepford and husband, Mark of Granger, IA; 11 grandchildren, Curtis Miller, Andrew Tye, Joshua Tye, Amber Tye, Paul Miller, Crystal Miller, Joe Swain, Rose Kepford, Mary Kepford, James Kepford and Jacob Kepford and one sister Frances Lueders and husband Ron of Omaha, NE Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeannette Miller; two sons, George and Wendall; three daughters, Shirley, AprilFaye and Karen Sue, and a grandchild, Beverly Swain.Funeral InformationJim B.
