Michelle L. Howard

Michelle Howard, 63, of Storm Lake, Iowa, formerly of Atlantic, Iowa, died Saturday, May 10, 2025, at University of Iowa Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa.

Michelle Louise Howard was born September 27, 1961, in Atlantic, Iowa, to George and Sharon (Dollen) Howard. After growing up in Atlantic with her siblings Douglas, Mike and Susan, she graduated from Atlantic High School in 1980. Michelle dated Kim Namanny in high school and they married on August 15, 1981. Together they would have two sons, Joshua and Trevor.

Michelle then attended Iowa Western Community College in Atlantic where she earned her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in 1982. As an LPN, she worked in various locations throughout the Midwest, including but not limited to, Ottumwa, Iowa, Orange Park, Florida, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Kansas City, Missouri. She especially loved to work in nursing facilities caring for the elderly. Her final years in nursing were as a hospice and traveling nurse. In her spare time, she enjoyed boating, traveling the country, sunbathing or riding behind her mother on her motorcycle for a joy ride. She loved to play cards, especially at family get-togethers. She would say her biggest accomplishment was raising her boys and being a caregiver.

Her outgoing, bubbly personality carried over into her career where she exemplified compassion and kindness to everyone she cared for and worked with. After losing her husband in 2001, she focused on raising the boys while also caring for others in need. Her caring, big-hearted friendliness will always be remembered.

Michelle is survived by her parents, George and Sharon Howard of Atlantic; two sons, Joshua Namanny and Trevor Namanny of Storm Lake, Iowa; brother, Mike Howard of Atlantic, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kim Namanny, her brother, Douglas Howard; sister, Susan Fitzpatrick; and her grandparents.

Visitation with family present will be Wednesday night, May 14th, 5 to 7 p.m. at Roland Funeral Service in Atlantic. Funeral services will be Thursday morning, May 15th, 11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Church in Oakland followed by a luncheon. Pastor Mike Kalstrup will be presiding. Burial will be held at the Atlantic Cemetery following the luncheon.
